About Us

The Pickled Sisters Cafe is a Rutherglen institution, 18 years old and still going strong! The team is headed by the husband and wife owners, Stewart Gilchrist and Marion Hansford,  who moved to Rutherglen in 2004 with their two young sons Alex and Leo to take over the cafe.

Classically trained and with over 30 years experience, Scottish born Stewart developed his interest in using what is local and seasonal whilst working in regional Scotland. He cooks what he enjoys to eat, with the emphasis on quality ingredients, clean flavours and the re-interpreting of classics. A self confessed ‘sweet tooth’, Stewart’s desserts are not to be missed.

Marion is in charge of the front of house team, with almost  20 years experience in hospitality. Marion and Stewart first met on the Isle of Arran, working at a renowned local seafood restaurant, and it was here they fostered their love of local produce and first dreamt of owning their own restaurant in the country, a dream that came to fruition at The Pickled Sisters Cafe, appropriately in Rutherglen with its own rich Scottish heritage and abundance of quality local produce.
